The sacred ashes is an important symbol in Saivism. It denotes the reality of death and
through that the reality of Siva. We must be humble and utter the Namasivaya mantra each
time we wear it. We must also remember that nothing is permanent and because of that
attach ourselves too strongly to anything in the world.

This symbol discloses that family life is important for progressing in religious life. It
is only through leading family life that we can understand God as Ammaiyappar-

The Nandhi is the vehicle of Siva himself who controls death and rebirth. Nandhi provides
the power of regeneration and hence the ability to conquer the death bringing processes.

Athiyamaan, the King has great appreciation for her poems. One day, one of Athiyamaan's friend gave 'Nelli' fruit to him. It is a special and powerful fruit where whoever eat the particular fruit will have a healthy and long life. Athiyaman gave that fruit to Auvaiyaar in appreciation for her intelligence. According to the myth, Auvaiyar eat that fruit and lived longer and served the Tamil community.
